Look out for spiders!

OK, it's been a while since I last blogged.......but I do have an excuse.....I've been traveling around on business.....this time to Singapore. Unfortunately, I missed all of the Fastnacht celebrations in Basel and even missed the public holiday. Instead I had to make do with a tower of beer in the hot, sticky Singapore evening ;-)) Fi tells me that the Gugge bands in Basel were quite good this year. Anyone who hasn't experienced the joys og Gugge Musik should go to www.youtube.com and search "gugge". Amazingly, there is an English Gugge group (Gugge 2000) who are actually quite good......although a little polished to be authentic!

I did get the chance to do a couple of geocache's in Sing. This proved a little dangerous due to the large spiders in the rain forest. It's a bit of a shock when you walk into a web that's as big as you are! If you are ever in Sing, I recommend a visit to the Botanical gardens and especially the national orchid garden. Absolutely amazing.

Food in Singapore is excellent. I managed a Chinese for lunch and Indian for dinner ever day! Not good for the waistline, but satisfying none the less. Most establishments wouldn't meet EU food hygiene standards, but so far I'm still alive and feel a lot better than when I returned from Brazil last.

Missed my Sing Airways flight to come home.....but managed to get a Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Phew! Happily I was paying (Swiss boss was happy to find that he wasn't either). Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Probably drank too many beer towers to keep cool. Anyway, all ended well and I arrived home one day and an hour later than expected.

Sunday was wonderful in Switzerland. T-Shirt weather in early March. Went for a 5 hour walk (including multi-cache) and discovered that Buus (villae over the hill in Basel Lande) is actually really pretty. If I was American I'd say "quaint" but then again all of Europe is "quaint" for our friends over the pond.

Fi and I had the day off yesterday and took little Brum for a spin out to the Rhein falls near Schaffhausen: www.rheinfall.com . It rained. I was totally underwhelmed by the experience, although the drive was fun. We went home via Stein am Rhein which was a really nice little town.....although being a Monday was (traditionally) closed.

Anyway......I'll have to finish this off at the weekend. It's Champion's League tonight and Chelsea just scored.......photo's from the weekend to follow.
